About Us

ROSKERN FOUNDATION

Who we are

Roskern Foundation

The Roskern Foundation was founded as a call from God to coordinate and connect Christians, churches and communities so that they may be empowered to becomethe “Handsand Feet”of Jesus as they seek to serve God in all that they do. The Foundation provides services to humanity for the most marginalized and disadvantaged in society with the aim of uplifting their spiritual, social and economic status.

History About Us

Mr. Joseph Simba is a sociologist at the Kibera Community Development Agenda and has been a leader in implementing youth programs in Kibera and other regions of Kenya. Joseph targets youth to develop their potential through technical and vocational training. Joseph, the co- founder and current director of the Roskern Foundation, lived in the slum his entire childhood and part of his adult life. He worked for Buckner International’s Nairobi orphanage for 9 years rising from the rank of house caregiver in charge of boys to social worker in charge of all Buckner programs (i.e orphanages, kinship, foster care and transitional homes for young adults). Joseph is married and the proud father of two sons.

Why Join Us

Sustainable actions, hopeful reactions

The city of Nairobi has numerous slums including Kiambiu, Mukuru, Mathare and Kibera. The Roskern Foundation has elected to target the Kiambiu slum for the first phase of our socio- economic empowerment project. With an estimated population of 700,000 in approximately a half mile area, the Kiambiu slum is among the most densely populated residential areas in Nairobi.

Vision

Empowering Christian Africans to escape poverty as well as share Jesus within their communities for the glory of God.

Mission Statement

Our mission statement is Galatians 6:10: Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of believers.

Mission and Community Centers

We believe God has called us to build self-sufficient Mission and Community Centers to empower Christians and churches in Africa (beginning in Kenya). Each Mission and Community Center consists of a library, a health facility, a literacy school, a community hall, a sports center, apartments and small businesses. Income from the small businesses coupled with income from leasing the apartments (upper floors of Mission and Community Center) make the Mission and Community Centers self-sufficient. This also funds many community programs and creates numerous jobs to stimulate the local economy.

Programs at the Mission and Community Center

  • Feeding Program
  • Community Outreach
  • Job Skills
  • Internship Program
  • Family Assistance Program
